Golden Home Realty Development Inc. president Ivan Howard Guintu initially shied away from the family business when he started his career.

To him, the sense of building something of your own, and carving a unique path, can help one build a solid foundation to successfully run a company and manage people.

Despite choosing this journey, Guintu acknowledges that being exposed to the family business at an early age helped him prepare for the professional world and his eventual real estate company.

“At around eight years old, I was already being brought to constructions sites. I later on learned how to read different plans, and was taught the importance of being able to link all aspects of the business,” said Guintu , whose family is into real estate.

On building a business

Guintu graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2011 with a double degree in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management.

He first explored the world of business when he started his own import-export company during his last year in college, shipping Philippine products to the US, Middle East, and Europe.

This was followed by an IT and web solutions company he set-up that catered to the Philippine and international markets.

It was in 2014 when he finally decided to step in and have a hand in the family business.

At that time, triple-A contractor HG-III Construction & Development Corp. was venturing into mass housing — an uncharted territory for the company then.

“We were still learning the ins and outs of real estate development. We experienced early struggles when we started selling in volume. But we knew that aspiring homeowners were depending on us. So we persevered,” Guintu said.

In a span of three years, they were recognized as among PAG IBIG Fund’s Top NCR Developers in terms of loan takeout value. And to date, they have constructed over 6,000 homes. For Guintu, this was a realization of their goal to provide accessible housing to Filipinos.

Two years later, Guintu established Golden Home Realty Development Inc. — the real estate arm of their family conglomerate.

Golden Home Realty

“The word ‘Golden’ is representative of our last name Guintu,” he shared. “But more than that, it stands for what we offer to people — homes that families can treasure, and where they can live life fully,” Guintu said.
